DoubtNut: A leading Doubt-Solving Platform

The foundation of DoubtNut was laid back in 2017 when two IIT-Delhi alumni, Tanushri Nagori and Aditya Shankar, decided to solve the doubts of millions of students in their own language. Today, DoubtNut is one of India’s largest education apps and doubt-solving platforms, answering 2 million questions on a daily basis. Tanushri and Aditya both want to deliver education to each and every kid irrespective of their demography and economic condition. Therefore, they decided to create content in different languages such as Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, English, Kannada, Gujarati, and more.

The beginning of DoubtNut

DoubtNut is not the very first that Tanushree Nagori and Aditya Sankar founded to enlarge the scope of education. Instead, their entrepreneurial journey started when they created a tutoring course called Class 12A in 2009 to support students in math and science subjects. But due to the growing number of students and limited classrooms, they decided to stop these tutoring classes as they are not catering to the needs of large students.

To solve this problem, Tanushree and Aditya both decided to use technology and work through a digital platform to address a large number of students, and as a result, DoubtNut was established in July 2016, and after 6 months, it got funding from some of the leading enterprises such as Cure.fit, Waterbride, and Omidyar Network, China’s Tencent Holdings, Sequoia Capital, AET Japan, and Omidyar Network, and it is successfully helping children till now.

The rapid growth of DoubtNut attracted many investors, including Mr. Ravi Sekhar, the former chief business officer of Vedantu, and he joined this ed-tech startup as a co-founder in March 2020. Till now, the DoubtNut app has been downloaded by 176,000 students, who ask over 8,000 questions a day. Although the service is currently free, the team is planning to introduce a subscription-based model for customised educational services in more fundamental ways.

Aditya, along with his co-founder and wife, Tanushree Nagori, is among the entrepreneurs whose stories are captured in Omidyar Network India’s newly launched video series titled “The Bold Ones-Innovating for the Next Half Billion”. Doubtnut is a leading platform that pushes boundaries and solves doubts through video with explanatory content. It is not like other ed-tech startups; it has way more head than they do.
