One such startup was launched in January 2020 by two educationists Ajay Vishwakarma and Tanu Aggarwal. SunoKitaab offers academic content in the form of audio books and podcasts which hasempowered more than 30,000 visually impaired students. The startup also offers stories, rhymes, and a lot more content through its mobile app for Android devices.

In today’s era when hybrid learning is ruling the education space, SunoKitaab is catering to both offline and online learners by providing them with audiobooks.
- The venture’s website has a compendium of more than 10,000 lectures in English and Hindi for school students as well as the ones preparing for competitive exams.
- It also offers an audio player called VidyaBox for academic studies. Priced at 3,999, the box is also available in simple instalments through the venture’s tie-up with Simpl.
The best part about this venture is that it is making resources accessible to students without increasing their screen time. The lectures are recorded to make the subject more interesting. The concept of audio learning has been received well and the startup already has a user base of 2 lakh students and over 1000 teachers.
Funding
SunoKitaab has raised Rs 20 Lakh from Startup India Seed Funds and the Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE). Meanwhile Rajasthan government’s iStart initiative has also backed SunoKitaab by providing access to mentors and essential infrastructure. Prominent institutional investors in SunoKitaab include DERBI Foundation, Startup Oasis, and Edupreneur Village.
Success Story
Started with a small amount of Rs 1.5 lakhs, SunoKitaab is a highly successful platform that took its inspiration from non-music audio platforms like Audible Suno, Pocket FM, Khabr and Kuku FM. Some features that make SunoKitaab’s audio content a success:
